This book is issued from Andrea Branzi’s interest for the relationship between genetics and design, between serial production and the infinite variants of mankind.
Starting from genetic evolution, Andrea Branzi’s research deals with the idea of human infinite: in other words, it explains how crowds take shape starting from the couple. At the same time, the project carried out the realization of a collection of twenty thousand vases for Alessi, decorated one by one with a different face.
The experience of Turin World Design Capital is presented in this book through ten themes and protagonists, that report the project from different points of view.
For the whole duration of 2008, Turin and Piedmont weaved design and their territory in an “experimental workshop” that involved a wide range of different characters. Aim of the project has been the creation of an open and usable system, issued from a pre-existing tradition but also as stable model beyond the temporary edges of this very experience.
It’s not a book to read or to leaf through but to make, unmake and build up: a never ending adventure, played and invented anew each time by the endless possibilities at hand.
A book by Bruno Munari that was never printed in Italy.
In a couple of words, Franco Toselli evokes his own experience in dealing with art and artists: this book features very short texts, clues and impressions in facing art and its protagonists written by a man who sees this world from the inside.
This book is an excursion across the work tables of Rosanna Bianchi Piccoli, with photos by Melina Mulas and an introduction by Marco Belpoliti. Home and workshop rolled into one, it is where matter is given the imprint of her actions and conserves them forever through time. Melina Mulas’ lens has captured with an intimate and sympathetic eye the objects, tools, books, fabrics and colours that surround her works.

Do not touch! How many times do children hear this order? No one would ever say: do not look, do not listen, but touching is different. Evidently a lot of people think you can do without.
To offer good playing situations is one of the best gifts that one can make to a family: it allows the recovering of good relationships between children and adults.
As Munari said, “everyone sees what he knows”: from these words is born the awareness of the importance of offering to the children not only words, but also experiences to let them really know the world.
To celebrate his twenty years of activity, Massimo Lunardon realized 20 works in glass by 20 authors, with most of whom he collaborated in his career: 20 objects issued from a common work from designing to craftsmanship, featured in this book along with texts by Andrea Anastasio and Beppe Finessi.
Great masters and young authors, artists and designers dealt with the realization of an object in glass using the lamp-blowing technique: as a result, the objects produced reflect a personal interpretation that issued from their original research paths.
