Young illustrator born in Seoul, Tomi Um dedicated her issue to an imagined Opera in a narrative, epic and mythological mood. By opening the series of folds of this Sedicesimo, the reader mixes himself with the audience, enters the theatre, and watches the crawling universe of actors, musicians, animals and set design. This Sedicesimo is a single folded typographic sheet: in other words, it has not been cut and bound as for any other Sedicesimo.


Tomi Um

is an illustrator/textile designer working in New York City. She was born in 1981 in Seoul, South Korea and grew up in New Jersey, USA. She is a recipient of Print 2010 New Visual Artists Award. She is currently working on a screen-printed book “36 Noodles”.
